Termit has specified somewhere that the reason JFDuke was used is because it has a simpler code base than what eduke32 does, especially when eduke32 has a bunch of unoptimised and unfinished features. HRP is also not officially supported because like Mateos said, players have to wait for HRP assets to load and whilst it might not take you ages, if another person uses it then it might take them ages too. You might think that could be a selling point but there are still heaps of people out there who can't run the HRP and I have seen this from some of the bug reports people have popped into this forum and I can tell from their specs that it wouldn't run great, especially with Polymer either. HRP is indeed only meant to be used with eduke32 but it can be forced to run with Megaton by changing some def files but that is not optimal because it simply looks better in eduke32. The last build of JFDuke was back in 2004 I believe but Megaton isn't based on that, it is based on the latest files in JonoF's github. I think you need to slow down dude, both Megaton and eduke32 appeal to different audiences. There are more that will be listed if found. The episode names are currently hard coded in Megaton so you won't see any change there, same with difficulty levels but the level names should hopefully be different. Make sure you try all the Duke episodes before complaining that it doesn't work. Launch the game and it should launch the Mod. Choose Set Launch Options and then put in -xWGGAME.CON -gWGS.GRP. bat file that includes:Ĭopy -xWGGAME.CON -gWGS.GRP and right click Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition in your library and then Properties. In the (zip) folder, there should be a bat file or something similar. If you downloaded the TC/Addon from the links above, make sure it doesn't say something like "Requires eduke32" as it will not work with Megaton. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Duke Nukem 3D\gameroot is the location of it for me. You can download TCs/Mods/Addons whatever from websites such as :Īll files from the TCs or Addons should be placed in the gameroot folder.
